Thanksgiving week featured the return High School Football at Fenway Park, presented by Cross Insurance, on November 23 & 24. The two days featured a pair of doubleheaders with eight schools in their traditional Thanksgiving rivalry games. Below are scenes from the games between East Boston and South Boston, North Andover and Andover, Blackstone Valley Tech and Nipmuc Regional, and Winchester and Woburn.

The Boston Red Sox began the first two innings of game two of the American League Championship Series with a pair of grand slam home runs by J.D. Martinez and Rafael Devers, respectively. They became the first team to ever hit two grand slams in a playoff game, which was all the Sox needed to support Nathan Eovaldi’s 5 and 1/3 inning start. Kiké Hernández, who homered twice in Game 1, then hit his third homer of the series in the fourth inning on Saturday. He has now set records has set records in a 5-game postseason span for most extra base hits (9), most hits (15), and most total bases (34). The Red Sox now return to Fenway Park tied 1–1 in the series against the Houston Astros.

The Boston Red Sox now stand one win away from the ALCS following a marathon victory in ALDS Game 3 over the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park on Sunday. Christian Vazquez walk-off home run in the 13th inning sealed the victory after a back and forth battle.

Much like Game 2, the Rays took an early lead on a first inning home run, but the Red Sox pieced together four runs after falling behind 2–0. Boston’s pitching proved dominant, as starter Nathan Eovaldi struck out eigh batters over five innings, and Nick Pivetta provided multiple late innings of shutout relief work.

The Boston Red Sox defeated the Washington Nationals 5–3 at Nationals Park yesterday, moving them into a tie for the top spot in the American League Wild Card standings. Following five innings of no-hit baseball from starting pitcher Tanner Houck, the Red Sox produced a game-breaking rally in the top of the ninth, sparked by a two-out RBI triple by Christian Vazquez that snapped a 1–1 tie. Kiké Hernandez provided insurance with a timely home run later that inning. With one game remaining in the regular season, the Red Sox hold the cards to finish at the top of the American League Wild Card race.

Starter Chris Sale made his first major league appearance in two years yesterday, leading the Boston Red Sox to a 16–2 victory against the Baltimore Orioles. Sale marked his return from Tommy John surgery by pitching five innings, striking out eight batters, and walking none to get the win, while the offense hit five home runs.

The Boston Red Sox won the second of a four game series against the Kansas City Royals 7–6. Designated hitter J.D. Martinez knocked in four RBI’s in a game that featured 6 lead changes. Before the game, new enlistees to the United States Navy were sworn in during an enlistment ceremony.
